Singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel, who was arrested in a rape case and is in jail, has married a former student of Eden Women’s College, the plaintiff in his case.
Singer Nobel and bride Israt Jahan Priya got married on Thursday (June 19) at Keraniganj Central Jail under the supervision of prison authorities.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG Prison) of Dhaka Division, Jahangir Kabir, confirmed the matter.
It is learned that singer Nobel had applied for marriage while in jail. Because of his application, on Wednesday (June 18), Magistrate Nazmin Akhter of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court granted permission to Mainul Ahsan Nobel, who was arrested in a rape case, to marry.

According to prison sources, the marriage was completed on Thursday in the presence of prison authorities. Nazma Hossain, Sabiha Tarin, Khalilur Rahman and Sadek Ullah Bhuiyan, along with other concerned persons, were present as witnesses on both sides during the marriage.
Incidentally, singer Nobel has been in jail since May 20 after he was arrested in a rape case filed by the woman. On the day of his arrest, Nobel’s lawyer claimed in court that the complainant was Nobel’s wife and that she was not raped.
However, Nobel’s lawyer, Jasim Uddin, could not submit a statement of claim to the court despite claiming the woman to be his wife.
The statement of claim alleged that Nobel had kept the woman locked up in a house for seven months and raped and tortured her. A former student of Eden College filed a case against Nobel under the Prevention of Atrocities on Women and Children Act on May 19. Based on that case, Nobel was arrested and eventually married the plaintiff in jail.
